Group experiences offer an engaging way to learn new skills, find connection, and feel supported alongside others who share similar goals. Whether you’re hoping to strengthen emotional balance, improve relationships, or better manage stress, my groups and workshops provide structured, evidence-based tools within a compassionate and collaborative environment. Each offering is designed to help you build insight, practice new strategies, and integrate what you learn into everyday life. DBT Skills Group: Emotional Balance & Relationship Effectiveness (Online)

Dates: Thursdays, Jan 15 – Mar 5, 2026
Time: 12:00–1:15 pm CT (1:00–2:15 pm ET)
Format: Live online · HIPAA-compliant telehealth
Size: Small cohort (4–8 participants)
Facilitator: Alexis Schmiedigen, Psy.D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Requirement: Must be actively engaged in individual therapy
Cost: $680 total · Due at registration · Self-pay only

What You’ll Learn​

​​

This structured, skills-based program teaches foundational Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to help you:

​

  • Communicate more effectively — express yourself clearly, set boundaries with confidence, and navigate conflict with less defensiveness and more understanding.

  • Manage strong emotions — learn how to ride the wave of difficult feelings without becoming overwhelmed or shutting down.

  • Cope with stress and uncertainty — develop healthier ways to respond to distress, change, and triggers so you can stay centered under pressure.

  • Build healthier relationships — strengthen trust, repair ruptures, and connect more authentically with others.

  • Cultivate mindfulness and self-awareness — increase awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors so you can respond intentionally rather than react automatically.

Each week introduces core DBT skills—Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness—with guided practice and take-home tools.

  • 8 live sessions (75 min each) via secure telehealth

  • Structured teaching + hands-on practice

  • Weekly worksheets + reflection exercises

  • Supportive, non-judgmental environment

  • Coordination with your individual therapist to deepen integration

  • Struggle with communication, boundaries, or feeling understood in relationships

  • Find yourself overwhelmed by emotions or reacting in ways you later regret

  • Want to cope with stress and uncertainty more effectively

  • Are looking for practical tools to feel more balanced, calm, and confident in daily life

  • Value structure, guidance, and real-world practice within a supportive group setting

  • Are currently in individual therapy and ready to build on that work by learning new skills

This is a skills-training group, not a psychotherapy group. It’s designed to complement, not replace, individual therapy.

Registration & Payment

​

  • The total program cost is $680, covering all 8 sessions + materials.

  • Payment is due in full at registration to reserve your spot.

  • The group is self-pay only and not eligible for insurance or superbills.

  • Because this is a small, closed group, payments are non-refundable once registration is confirmed.

  • This policy reflects a shared commitment by all participants to the full 8-week process.
